The Virtuous Practitioner
This was published as Occasional Paper 78 by the RCGP in 1998 under the title "Towards a philosophy of General Practice" . I intended this to be it's subtitle, but was persuaded by the editor to use this as the main title rather than my original choice which was "The Virtous Practitioner". It was my first serious foray into virtue ethics and addresses some of the questions unresolved in "What is Good General Practice". It is also a prequel which might interest readers of "A Flourishing Practice?" Although it has been widely cited but it is out of print. All the RCGP Occasional Papers have been given to Pub Med, but they have posted them as separate PDFs and search engines tend to show just the first section - in this case The Preface by Prof Sir Denis Periera Grey .
The RCGP is taking this up with Pub Med but meanwhile they have sent me a PDF of the whole work which I have uploaded here. For those who prefer to read on a kindle, Kobo or similar I have also created e-book formats from my original files. These were however in what is now an antiquated format, and though I have done some basic reformatting to make it readable it remains a little rough. Also I cannot be certain this is the final version as published so I would recommend consulting the PDF before citation. Please email petertoon@aol.com for other formats.
